My Philosophy

User Experience is what a user experiences.

User Experience is what a user experiences.

User Experience is what a user experiences.

Regardless of what you put into a product's design, users are going to use it, and their experience will either be good, mediocre, or bad.

Good UX

Good UX takes a village.

While it helps to have things like nice looking buttons, typography, and responsive web interfaces, a UX can still go south if teams like Front End Dev, QA, and Project Management aren’t aligned around creating the best UX possible.

UX/UI Designers bring it all together.

The role of the UX/UI designer, therefore, is threefold:

1) Craft product designs based on business requirements and user needs.
2) Promote alignments between departments so that all can come together in the service of good UX.
3) Ensure good UX has happened using validation mechanisms with users.

UX/UI Designers play a vital role.

What UX UI Designers Do

UX/UI Design is process-driven and it seeks to inform functional groups outside of itself. In the UX world, there are many different takes on how this process should look. For me, the most interesting process is the one that can respond to interruption.

How the Design Process Works

Process.

The UX process is a living thing. It’s not a static diagram we designers move around. It’s more like an organism, programmed to act out a certain way, but subject to adaptation as it’s surrounding environment interrupts it.

And that’s where the magic happens.

UX/UI is as much about service as it is about solutions. Everyone in the organization contributes to the user’s experience, and UX/UI Design is here to ensure that the user’s experience is, at the end of the day, a good one.

My philosophy can be further simplified as this: UX/UI is as much a service industry as it is a solutions one. Everyone in the organization contributes to the user’s experience. And UX/UI is here to ensure that the user’s experience is verifiably good.
